Portrait Painting in Oils with live model with Ignacio Rojas

Ignacio is a practicing visual artist with many years of
teaching experience in Australia and in the U.S. He is
originally from Chile but moved to Australia in 2001 and
has recently moved to Adelaide.

While living in San Francisco
(2016-2019), Ignacio worked
as an adjunct faculty member
at the San Francisco Arts
Institute and the City College
of San Francisco teaching
painting and drawing. During
this period, he was also an artist in residence at Root
Division, a visual art non-profit organisation, connecting
practicing artists with the community, where he had the
privilege to teach at the socially-active Mission Cultural
Center for Latino Arts.

In Australia Ignacio has taught painting and
drawing at several Melbourne institutions over a
number of years including the Melbourne Studio of
Art, the Footscray Community Arts Centre, the
Centre for Adult Education and the Northern
College of the Arts and Technology (NACT
Create).

Ignacio has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions
across Australia and the U.S for the last 15 years
and has been a finalist in numerous art prizes such
as the Doug Moran National Prize, Lester Prize,
Kennedy Art Prize and Rick Amor Self Portrait
Prize among others.

For our Social Night, Ignacio will demonstrate his approach to
painting a portrait in oils.

As usual we will be able to socialise with like-minded art enthusiasts
after the presentation over supper so bring a small something to
share.
