Adelaide Art Society Social Night Friday, June 27th 7.30pm
With Barbara Millward who works in mixed media, collage, textiles, jewellery, sculpture and artist’s books inspired by the Adelaide Hills and her collection of old and interesting curios.
Barbara has been exhibiting for over 30 years in more than 15 different galleries and art spaces.
Barbara says, “Living in the Adelaide Hills inspires and informs my art. Here I am surrounded by nature and it is a major influence. I primarily work with textiles and mixed media, producing artwork and jewellery with the occasional foray into artist’s books. I am attracted to old abandoned buildings, aged and weathered objects, discarded detritus and surfaces with a patina of age and wear. Like most artists, I am an obsessive collector… old objects, jewellery, antique laces, buttons, little curios, rusty objects, old tools and a myriad other things. Usually they inspire my work… and sometimes they find their way into my work!”
For our Social Night, Barbara will show how she uses a variety of different papers, textures and images to create her delightful artworks. She will also show some of her many other lovely creations and talk about what inspires her.
As usual, after the presentation, there will be a chance to socialise with fellow art enthusiasts over supper so bring a small something to share.
