Gelli printing workshop by Simone Tippett

The Adelaide Art Society presents a wonderful workshop in Gelli printing by Simone Tippett on April 11th.

Simone Tippett is Union St Printmakers, based in Hindmarsh, SA. Her love of printmaking is firmly rooted in its community nature, as well as the pleasures of handmade, process-based artworks. She’s passionate about sharing traditional printmaking skills and has been teaching beginners and experienced artists alike since 2009.

Gelli printing is a kind of mono printing that uses flexible printing plates to create textures with multiple layers of colour, quickly and easily, without a press. Gelli processes range from stencilling, drawing and nature printing, to t-shirt printing and tricky photo/laser transfers. Gelli prints are gorgeous in their own right, but also make fabulous backgrounds to lino and screenprints, and use as collage on canvas.

The cost for members is $85, and for non-members is $105

Simone will supply the gelli plates, rollers and some other stuff. Participants to bring acrylic paint and paper, which will be outlined when you book the workshop.
