Last nights' art demonstration, presented by Catherine Fitz-Gerald, was an excellent explanation of her materials and techniques. Thank you Catherine.
Social Night, Friday, June 28th, 7.30pm
With Catherine Fitz-Gerald
Catherine Fitz-Gerald is a multidisciplinary, South Australian artist recognised for her masterful skills in handling light and luminous colour. Her practice uses traditional oil painting, abstractions, installation photography and digital storytelling.
Catherine’s work develops in a series of extended investigations, exploring the common threads that bind us as people and communities. Curiosity and experimentation underpin her expressive practice.
By taking the well-known genre of still life and gently pushing it into a different plane, her work challenges the viewer to pause and re-evaluate everyday moments.
An award-winning artist, Catherine has participated in and curated group and solo exhibitions with great success, in both non-traditional and gallery spaces. Her work can be found in private collections throughout Australia, USA, Malaysia, Europe and New Zealand.
For our Social Night Catherine will talk about her art practice and many art projects and experiences. She will demonstrate her still life process in oils.
After the presentation, there will be time for socialising with other art enthusiasts over supper so bring a small something to share.
